Sweet, sweet vanity

I was just reading through a National Geographic Travel magazine and I saw this quote, "Shoes are trophies of the trails, streets, and floors where [you've] left [your] footprints."

Well, I got my trophies this past week. I'm posting two pictures of them because I can't quit looking at them, and I'm sure you'll feel the same. I'm posting a mirror picture because I too keep looking at them in the mirror; every time I pass it, in fact. I'm also posting a picture from my view. I've almost walked into a wall and a parked car because I was too busy looking down and admiring my shoes.

They had their maiden voyage this past weekend in Seattle.

I know this is vanity in its vilest form; so busy staring you almost walk into a wall. However, as justification, I only get it with shoes. I tried very hard to obliterate it. Couldn't do it. I've been working on hiding it, but my shoes are ALWAYS in plain sight. ALWAYS there tempting me to look at them... again.

Feel welcome to come back again, again and again to have another look too.

Oh Cali, you make me laugh. When you were little I could not keep you out of visitors' shoes when they came to visit. When they took their shoes off at the door I had to shut the porch door to keep you out of them because once we started visiting and the guest was sidetracked you'd sneak back out there and put them on. ONE TIME, a guest left hers on and as she sat on the couch (with her legs crossed and one leg dangling...and hence a shoe dangling) you sat next to her watching that leg swing back and forth, back and forth. You were like a cat watching a goldfish in a bowl. Slowly but surely, you reached up and nabbed that shoe off the lady's foot and put it on your own foot. It was embarrassinly funny--it's not like I knew our guest that well...and she had high heels on, so you can imagine she had some sophistication in her blood. I had to explain your fascination with shoes to her. Another time I remember you telling me that nothing could ruin your day because you had a new pair of shoes and nothing can ruin a day with a new pair of shoes in them. I should have yelled at you or something just to see if that's true.

You make me laugh. Your blog makes me laugh.

Oh Cal,
I love the shoes. Did you know that I kind of hate shoes? I have flat feet, so most shoes hurt my feet. On a more important note, I told Enos the best way to win you over is to fly to Washington and take you back to Hawaii with him. I also tried to tempt him towards Sara. I'll let you know what he says...

You should have been my mother's daughter. She LOVES shoes! I'm such a disgrace in her eyes when it comes to shoes. In fact when I get new shoes, I'm almost always with her. I love your new shoes too. But I'm with Rachel, give me legs like that!
