Craftiness

And, while we're on the subject of craftiness, can I just show you my pew and the cushion I made for it?

I got the church pew off of Craig's List.  She was asking $50.  On the drive over to look at it and possibly buy it, I told Ray I was going to pay no more than $25.  It's easy to talk tough before you've seen the seller face-to-face.  I paid $40.

I made the seat cushion for it this week.  I didn't have a pattern, so I spent 90% of the production time standing in front of and staring at the cushion and fabric.  I spent 5% of the production time ripping out seams.

How did I defend the $15 over-pay to Ray on the drive home?

"It's solid oak and only 6 feet long.  Do you know how hard it is to find a church pew under 15 feet?"

Oh Cali, that turned out so well. You have found such fun things for your home. The last picture you took of it reminds me of those Martha Stewart programs we used to watch at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon on PBS when she still cooked in her kitchen, and we got to see her chickens and gardens before they became so big. Do you remember that?

Dos the fabric look like newsprint? What kind of words does it say? I'd love to see the buttons you put on the back, too.

I think $40 is a steal.

I wonder what church it came from. That would be fun to think of the sermons that bench has listened to and the people it's held.

Very cute! I know you've been looking for a bench for a long time. Your Valentine's decorations are fun! Good job!
